Robynann Williams

Robynann is a speech pathologist, qualified at Sydney University in 1979, with more than four decades in practice and extensive additional training in orofacial myology: the discipline that assesses and treats the muscle patterns and habits of the mouth and face when they interfere with breathing, swallowing, speech and jaw development.

She came to myofunctional work the way many speech pathologists do: through children whose speech would not resolve, because the underlying problem was never the speech. A tongue that rests low, a mouth that stays open, a swallow that pushes forward, these shape the face as it grows, and no amount of articulation practice corrects them. Her interest now runs from tongue-tie and thumb-sucking through to mouth breathing, snoring and disrupted sleep.

Robynann is a Provider Member of the Australian Association of Orofacial Myology and practises on Sydney's Northern Beaches. For Holistic Smiles Kids, she designs and oversees each child's home exercise program and reviews their progress between appointments.
