Myobrace and Children's Oral Appliances

Myobrace is a staged system of soft-silicone oral appliances. Rather than pushing teeth the way braces do, it's designed to support the habits underneath (nasal breathing, correct tongue posture and a comfortable lip seal) while your child's jaws are still growing.

How It Works in Our Program

If Dr. Phillip Stein recommends the appliance program after your child's assessment, phone consult and in-person exam, the right starting stage is prescribed for your child. There are many different Myobrace options: the correct sequence, size and correction type will be directed by Dr. Phillip Stein, not a checkout option. Your welcome kit arrives by post, or will be given on the day of the in-person exam if you choose to commence, and the app walks you through the first nights.

Nightly Wear

The appliance is worn while your child sleeps: it works quietly in the background of family life, no daytime self-consciousness involved.

A Short Daytime Session

A brief daily wear session (usually alongside the myofunctional exercises) helps your child get comfortable and builds the habit.

Staged Sizes by Post

As your child grows and progresses, Dr. Phillip Stein prescribes the next appliance stage and it arrives by post, no clinic trip needed for a size change.

Checked as You Go

Weekly check-ins and periodic photo reviews let Dr. Phillip Stein see how wear is going and adjust the plan if your child needs something different.

Who It Tends to Suit

Children aged 5-12 whose assessment and in-person exam point to habit-related concerns: mouth breathing, tongue posture, early crowding signs

Families who want a gentle, removable option before considering fixed appliances or braces later

Children who can build a nightly routine with a parent's encouragement (the appliance only works when it's worn)

Whether Myobrace is right for your child is Dr. Phillip Stein's call, made after reviewing the photos and examining your child in person, and if it isn't the right fit, he'll tell you that too. Children respond differently and no specific result can be promised.

What to Expect

The first two weeks are about habit, not perfection. Most children need a settling-in period: the appliance can fall out overnight at first, and that's normal. The portal's weekly check-ins help you (and us) see the habit forming.

It's a marathon, not a sprint. The program runs over about 24 months with staged appliances along the way. Gentle consistency beats intensity: a calm nightly routine is the whole game.

You're never doing it alone. Your care coordinator is a message away, replacements are handled through the portal if an appliance is lost or outgrown, and Dr. Phillip Stein reviews progress photos as you go.
