Myomunchee: A Gentle First Step for Little Ones
Myomunchee is a soft, chewable oral device designed for very young children. Used in short, guided sessions, it encourages nasal breathing, a comfortable lip seal and healthy oral muscle habits at an age when those patterns are still forming. It is often the youngest starting point in the Holistic Smiles Kids program, before a child is ready for a staged appliance.

How it works
Very young children respond best to something that feels like play, not treatment. Myomunchee is used for short chewing sessions that gently encourage the lips to stay together, the tongue to rest in a healthy position, and the child to breathe through the nose. The aim at this age is not to move teeth, but to support the habits and muscle patterns that guide healthy growth as a child develops. It is introduced only after Dr. Phillip Stein has reviewed your child, and it sits alongside simple daily habits a parent can support at home.
Who It Tends to Suit
Young children, roughly ages 3 to 5, where early habits like mouth breathing, an open-lip resting posture or thumb sucking are noticed
Families who want a gentle, play-based first step before a child is ready for a staged appliance program
Children who can chew the device for short sessions with a parent alongside (it works through gentle, guided use, not force)
Whether Myomunchee is right for your child is a clinical decision Dr. Phillip Stein makes after reviewing your child, and if it is not the right fit he will say so. This page is general information, not a diagnosis, and every child is different.
